How do you get inspired to write?

S.P. Miskowski To get inspired is, to me, to limber up. To think freely. So I try to do that. After a while I'll take a look at the books I've been reading, the films I've been watching, the images or news stories that get my attention, and I'll begin to consider what these things have in common. In all likelihood I'm imagining the first pieces of a story and all of the references I've drawn up around me are in some way nurturing that story or an obsession buried in the story.
