I was lucky enough to acquire InkSpell at a teacher's workshop. Of course I had to purchased Inkheart to read first. Since then, I have loved your books. I have seen some of the pictures you posted on Facebook, showing your notes. I was wondering when you are writing your first drafts, how many notebooks do you actually use per book?

Hi Wendy,
thank you for that question!:) For THE GOLDEN YARN (the 3rd book of the MirrorWorld series) I had more than 30 notebooks in the end, but for that one I did not only write the first draft by hand, but also glued out prints of later drafts into notebooks to correct them by hands and gather notes in the books for further edits. For my last book A GRIFFIN'S FEATHER I had one book for notes, thoughts, sketches before I started, and then another 6 for the handwritten first draft and the print out of the second draft. While working on that book I started to more and more sketch characters and places while I was writing -a thing I had never done before. I regret that very much by now as it can be so inspiring for the writing ( and makes much more beautiful notebooks:) I do by now also have a sketchbook for each project, which contains only artwork - for the 4th book of MirrorWorld for example I am currently sketching Indian and Japanese art to find my way into those cultures not by words but with a colored pencil. In my experience images can inspire aspects of characters and places that the more intellectual approach of writing does not easily grant:)

Ich habe vor Tintenherz so zu binden, wie in den Büchern beschrieben, würdest du es mir signieren?(Und auch eins wollen?) Danke für alles! Eva Kodera
