Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Gail D. Storey My husband, Porter, and I each kept a journal on waterproof paper while hiking the 2,663-mile Pacific Crest Trail. I got a huge kick out of our conflicting versions of exactly the same events. I intended to juxtapose them on opposite sides of the page, but I Promise Not to Suffer evolved to include not just a chronology and geography of our hiking adventures but resonances with our marriage and inner lives--emotional, spiritual, and hysterical. ;-D
