Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Samuel Marquis My most recent book, "Blind Thrust", is my second novel and first in my Joe Higheagle Environmental Sleuth Series. The book deals with geology, earthquakes, groundwater contamination, and fracking/deep well injection. These are the subjects I deal with as a professional hydrogeologist so I just created an extreme version of the world in which I practice environmental science. My protagonist is Joe Higheagle and he is a professional hydrogeologist like me--only he's an ass-kicking, 30-year-old, full-blooded Cheyenne Indian with a tough, curmudgeonly grandfather, a venerated tribal elder and retired lawyer named Chief John Higheagle. Together, Joe and John Higheagle solve environmental crimes.
