I loved the aunts in the film, and in the book they are not as important. Lots of other things in the film played to the strengths of the actors, and emphasized what would *have* to be visual.

But the book -- if you love lyrical writing, subtle magic on every page, and much more fully developed, complex characterization, you'll love it, too.

Both are fantastic, and for different reasons. (less)
