This confused me too. I prefer when an author just comes out with it in detail.

I would say that the end is cut deliberately when it is because the author did not want to give a definite answer as to whether the haunting is real or just a part of Laurie's damaged psyche. Everything could have a non-supernatural explanation, the book lays the possibilities out and it is left for you to decide. But IMO yes, I think the book leans towards the supernatural explanation and the tragic ending.

didn't understand... the entire last part is a sort of soup of nothingness mixed with useless dialogues and unlucky attempt to scare the reader... failed.
Why would Sadie kill Susan and stop her vengeace?
Why don't kill directly Laurie!?
Why did the night nurse killed Laurie's father?
Why a lot of things in this book...

I think that yes, she was killed by Sadie as "paymemt".
