How do you get inspired to write?

Linore Rose Burkard When an idea takes hold of me, I need to write. I'm not the kind of writer who has to write every day to keep the wheels turning, or anything like that. (Unless I'm on deadline, and I need to be writing to meet it!) In fact, I usually don't write unless I have something--an idea, a scene, a character--that seizes me and compels me to it. Occasionally I have sat down without a strong idea and still written something, but that's more likely to occur with non-fiction (like a blog post or guest post) than with fiction.
