Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?
My answer is relatively intellectual. I was thinking about the relationship of innocence to human goodness. I mean, the question you might ask yourself is, "Is innocence all the conducive to being a good person? Is it possible that adults retain some of their innocence, and if you pay close enough attention to their story, might their innocence actually cause them to behave destructively?" This novel is essentially my own personal answer to that question. I'll give you a hint to what I think is true, summed up in one sentence.
The road to Paradise is paved not with innocence, but with love.
