I do not feel that there is a true answer for this question. Many say things like 'don't give up' or 'write from the heart,' but each person is an individual with individual motivations. Despite that, the best advice I can give is to never abandon a story because it does't come across the way you want. Writing, like any art, is something that is developed over time.
