First of all I love your books!! And now my question. I notice that all of your main characters are going through a lot of problems, like Noah's parents died, Hayley is practically homeless, Rachel has severe panic attacks...the list could go on. Did you ever go through problems when you were younger?

Yes, my life was very complicated when I was a teen and if that wasn't enough, I had friends who also faced very complicated circumstances. I draw a lot of what I write about from my past.
