Should I read this one before or after 'Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore' novel? I know the story takes place before the full novel but I also know prequels can spoil fun just as sequels do.

It has backstories of earlier technologies/print/fonts but I don't know about starting in 1969 unless it has "flash-forwards." (less)
