Hello Mr. Smith! I think I read that some of the characters in your Scotland Street series were based on real people you knew. Is that correct? And is Bertie based on someone you know or knew? Is he anything like you as a child? Thank you! I absolutely love all your books.

Bertie is not based on any particular person. I do put real people in the novels - under their actual names, and with their permission. I tend not to base the other characters on real people. AMcS
