What is your research process like, and how do you check your work for historical accuracy? Can you describe an instance when you decided, for dramatic or plot purposes, it was better to overlook historical precedent?

Philippa Gregory Not at all. When we know something for sure I never overlook it. Of course, there are gaps in the record or differences of opinion and that is where my work as a novelist begins. I have to speculate. Thankfully, when you're dealing with a period like the Tudors, the history is usually more exciting than fiction!
