Hi! How important are names to you in your books? Do you choose the names based on liking the way it sounds or the meaning?

Hi Ilze! What a great question. Names are surprisingly important to me, and I hear from my writer friends that I am not alone in this. It takes a long time to come up with exactly the right one. Once, I wrote about two hundred pages of a book and realized that I couldn't keep going because the name was wrong. I went back to the drawing board, changed the character's name and I was back on track. And yes, I go for sound and meaning and heritage.

Hello Kristin! I have loved reading all your books. I read Winter Garden first (I stumbled on it at the library) and have since read them all. I know that when I start one of your books I won't be able to put it down! Do you take a break between books? How long does it normally take to write a book? Does it take a long time to be released once you're finished? Can't wait to read your new book! Dawn
