Victoria Laurie:
Hi, V. Read your acknowledgments in S of D. Tomorrow morning, we are taking our 15 y.o. Beagle, Fox, to be put to sleep after months of declining health. So we let him eat his favorite no-no treat (canned cat food), we loved on him, cried over him & we'll say goodbye in the AM. Maybe he will give Lilly some big, wet, sloppy kisses at the start of his new journey? From one furbaby momma to another, Hugs, Rebecca

Oh, Rebecca,
I'm sooooo sorry for your loss. Fox appears to have been so loved, what a special and lucky pup he must have been. I know this will find you brokenhearted, and I so know how that feels. Even now, nine months later I still weep - like weep! - for Lilly. I miss her more than I can say, and yet, her little spirit is constantly showing me that she's around.
Still, it's not the same, and I know you know what I mean. I hope only that Fox's passing was gentle and that when his spirit left, you felt you had done everything right by him, even the part that required you to let him go. I hope he finds ways to let you know he's made it across the rainbow bridge and is happy bouncing through the fields, chasing after balls and squirrels. :) Take care of yourself in the next few months. Cry whenever the mood strikes - even if it's in public, because that's sometimes exactly what you need to do to get through a day without him. It doesn't really get easier, but you do learn to adapt to the new "normal," and eventually you get through whole weeks without tearing up. For now, know that my heart goes out to you, and again, I'm so sorry for your loss. <3
Hugs, my friend,
Victoria
