Hey Scott, I'm a big fan of your books, especially the infected series. Anyway, I was wondering what motivated you to dive into YA fiction? It seems to be a different type of writing than you usually do. I'm guessing it's because you want to try something new? Anyway I pre-ordered Alive and can't wait to read it!

Scott Sigler I didn't set out to write YA. The plot dictated the story, drove it, shaped it, created an extraordinarily conservative background for these characters that manifests in language that is more toned-down than I've used in other books. With the young characters, Del Rey decided it was ideal YA fare. When you read it, however, I think you'll find it's the kind of story you've come to expect from me.
