I had a brief moment of panic when I saw an "outline" of the plot for gentleman Jole on wikipedia because there was a whole menage a trois storyline which feels so wrong for Aral and Cordelia. Then I saw someone had fixed it to directly quote you. I feel like the answer is yes, but were Cordelia and Aral monagamous throughout thier relationship?
Lois McMaster Bujold
Too early for spoilers, I think, but it is certainly the case that we saw the later Aral and Cordelia mainly through Miles's eyes, which is a peculiarly restricted frame. I can say that Cordelia and Aral loved each other without reserve until death parted them.
Also, don't forget that Cordelia is Betan. Betan /= 21st. C. Middle American, despite her accent. Technology, as usual, creates the ambit of the possible, in culture as in so much else.
So much else, but you'll have to wait for the book for that.

(but I think by saying you weren’t sure what Moravian meant you already answered my question. Sorry! I just could not stop thinking about a planet that seems very Christian in their makeup and yet were so radically socially progressive about gender and sex, and the herm population always made me think of them. question mark to satisfy the ask-field-robot)?

I just saw that the Sharing Knife universe is not, as I had always assumed, a (very) post-apocalyptic descendant of our own. Certain cultural details, like the birthday cake (complete with candles) as well a the plants and animals made it feel like it was closely related to our Earth. Do you see it as an alternative history version of Earth, and if so, when did the timelines split? Or has it always been its own place?
