SD asked this question about Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (Harry Potter, #1):
If I am 14, am I too old to read Harry Potter and enjoy it? I know that Harry Potter is a classic but I hope that the story or language is not too young for me. Should I read it? I tried reading Maximum Ride by James Patterson but the writing was way too young for me. It was more middle grade than ya. Is Harry Potter like that?

I do not, however, think that it'll give off the YA effect you might be desiring, but at the same time, it doesn't feel like a total children's book. Especially if you read the entire series. Harry does start of at 11 years old, but he ends up at 17. The writing doesn't really feel juvenile I don't think. I say go for it! It's a classic for a reason (:(less)
