Don't take this the wrong way, it's just a question. Red Rising is an "Over hyped" book I avoid because I have been a victim of hype several times. Not only that, but from other reviewers, Darrow is a bit of a Gary-Stu. He's perfect. While the premise for the trilogy is interesting, I am very apprehensive about reading it. Should I? Or do I just not read it?

Even though you spend the entire series in Darrow's head, I never felt close to him at all or like he was a real person -- same for every other character. Definitely over hyped from my perspective.(less)
