A Goodreads user asked this question about Morning Star (Red Rising Saga, #3):
Don't take this the wrong way, it's just a question. Red Rising is an "Over hyped" book I avoid because I have been a victim of hype several times. Not only that, but from other reviewers, Darrow is a bit of a Gary-Stu. He's perfect. While the premise for the trilogy is interesting, I am very apprehensive about reading it. Should I? Or do I just not read it?

Yes, they are all incredibly capable and incredibly smart...but this series does well at showing how even highly intelligent highly capable people can be incompetent idiots. Emotions of each character drive the story highlighting the ludicrous concept of the perfect person. So no...not a gary-stu...but a play on how there is no such thing as a gary-stu.(less)
