For my current book, I dreamt it... Well the first chapter of book one anyway. I thought it over for a while, then ask myself who my audience is. With this one, I've used my kids as inspiration. I just sit and write, I don't plan it. The keys move and the story ends up on my screen and I don't even know what happens next. Then I go through it and I add things to kick it up a notch. For me that works.
