The time of the Exodus is essential to Biblical chronology. Until recently, the wrong date was assigned. This wrong date kept archeology from substantiating the Biblical record. Many scholars doubted the reliability of the Bible because the stories could not be proven. If Egypt was destroyed by ten plagues, history should show it. If six million people wandered in the desert, archaeology should demonstrate it but it couldn’t. People doubted the Bible.
Gerald Aardsma’s date of 2450 B.C. for the Exodus brings cohesiveness to the Biblical and archeological accounts. No historian could explain why the Old Kingdom of Egypt disappeared without a trace.
