Goodreads asked Tammie Painter:

How do you deal with writer’s block?

Tammie Painter I honestly don't believe in writer's block. The days when I sit down to write and nothing comes out, it's not "writer's block," it's more a feeling of "Gee, I'd like to be doing something else right now." But I can't just get up and do something else otherwise nothing will get written.

Writing takes self-discipline and I think the lack of that discipline gets interpreted as writer's block. The only way to deal with it is to get the butt in the chair and write anything to get the juices flowing. The first couple paragraphs may be horrible, but as the story starts playing out in my head, the writing improves.

To be a writer, you can't just wait for inspiration to arrive out of the blue and you can't make excuses when you don't write. You need to sit down (preferably every day, if possible at the same time every day) and write. There are so many stories out there, I can't imagine not having anything to write about.
