Is this book really similar to 1984 and Brave New World? I loved those books.

Liz I can't say about "1984," but I can tell you "Neuromancer" is NOTHING like "Brave New World." Neuromancer has a plot, characters with personalities, and a world that feels full. Or to put it more simply, Gibson wrote an actual story, as opposed to a giant warning full of metaphors. (Not that anything's wrong with that...)
Kashiari No. Those books primary serves as warnings about what can happen to the humanity in the future.

This book's main role is to describe author's vision of the future, which is not utopian or dystopian.

I think that this review will give you a good sense about this book.

Britt Freeman this book is dystopian in the sense that the humans in its world have been disembodied by rapid technological advances, further disenfranchised by increasing corporate interests, and forced into the dark crevices of dark city-states to scramble together a drug induced diversion from modern living. at it's core its a heist story, a caper. at its core-core it's a hard science(what we used to call artificial intelligence) fiction tale with all the philosophical trimmings. less cautionary than 1984 and BNW in tone.
Vinc Tay Not at all. However the world of Neuromancer does carry some form of everlasting gloom, I feel.
Kendall Moore IMO, it more resembles the cityscape of Fahrenheit 451 with its consumer-driven malaise with pervasive surveillance.
