“If there ever comes a day when we can't be together, keep me in your heart. I'll stay there forever.” This quotation has been attributed on this site to A.A. Milne but I can't find it in any of his works. Is there any way to query quotes that may be being inaccurately attributed? Or can anybody point me to the text (or similar) where A.A. Milne said or wrote these words?
Chris It's not from the book. The final scene in Chapter X of The House at Pooh Corner has the following lines spoken by Christopher Robin: "'Pooh, promise …moreIt's not from the book. The final scene in Chapter X of The House at Pooh Corner has the following lines spoken by Christopher Robin: "'Pooh, promise you won’t forget about me, ever. Not even when I’m a hundred'" and, after a bit of stumbling for words, "'Pooh, whatever happens, you will understand, won’t you?'" The chapter closes with the final narrative statement by Milne: "So they went off together. But wherever they go, and whatever happens to them on the way, in that enchanted place on the top of the Forest, a little boy and his Bear will always be playing."(less)
