Am I the only one who thinks Watson just doesn't carry it off at all (writing from a female perspective?) did any of you realise the author is male? Some others have mentioned this too - the pace is farrrrrrr tooooooo slooooow!

Actually I was impressed about it being a male author. I definitly thought he had it down about the sexual repulsion the woman felt about a stranger touching her body and arguing with herself that it was her husband. I thought those descriptions were excellent and thought finally a man understands sex isnt only physical for a woman.

Hard disagree. I thought this book was written by a woman the whole way through. I was shocked when I looked at the author bio and saw a picture of a man!

To your original question - I also think he missed the mark on a few things from the female perspective. Notably, the way he discusses her body. He spends a lot of time talking about her physically in a way I don't think women think of themselves. Same with when she touches herself just before going on the weekend away. I did think, however, that the close relationship with Claire that eventually got strained was a fairly good representation of a female friendship.
