Thank you for your kind response & I'm blown away that you mentioned McCarthy's "The Road". The thing that most impressed me about The Road was the minimalist aspect of the writing, which I think creates such authenticity. This techniques is evidenced countless times in The Fire Sermon. Did you do it intentionally?

I agree with you about the power of the stripped-back prose in The Road - it's an astounding novel. I think my writing style tends to skew much more lyrical than McCarthy's, which is perhaps why he's been such a useful influence in showing the power of restraint. While I wouldn't say I intentionally tried to write like him (if such a thing were even possible!), I was certainly aware of his influence while writing, and I know that it informed my work (but so,too, did the work of lots of other authors I admire...)

Not a question ?, just a statement. I recently finished The Forever Ship, and I must tell you how much I loved this whole trilogy. The first book I borrowed from my local library, where I find most of my reading materiel. I loved it so much that I bought it in hard cover. Although I rarely buy or reread books, I have now bought all three, and will reread them. Thanks!!
