Goodreads asked Seraphina Donavan:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Seraphina Donavan Let go of your fear. Hearing the word "no" isn't that awful. It can also be an opportunity to get helpful feedback. If someone passes on your book ask them "why?". Don't debate the answers back to them. Just take what they give you and say "thank you". Maybe they passed due to personal preference. Maybe they passed because they already have enough writers in a particular genre in their agency or house. Or maybe there's something in the book itself that can be tweaked or altered to make it better. Take their advice, sit on it, ruminate about it, and if it feels right, do something with it.
