Hi David, Interesting to see another language last night from the giant in Hardhome! Was that a new language you created? If so, I'm wondering how you approach a situation like that where there might be a request for only a few lines of dialogue as opposed to a need for a fully fleshed out language? Thanks!
David J. Peterson
Funny you should ask: I wasn't really told how little dialogue there was going to be! They said "not much", but, you know, that could be a "not much; just five pages", or "not much; just one short line and that's it". I think if I'd know it was going to be just one line, it would've saved me quite a bit of time. As it was, though, I prepared just the way I would with any language request and did the whole bit. Perhaps we'll see some more giant action in future seasons (Wun Wun escaped!). I hope so. It's a fun language—and Wun Wun was awesome. What a beast! Love him!

Hey! I just stumbled across Defiance on Netflix and have been binge watching it for a few days. The languages on that show are incredible, and I was just wondering if there was anywhere one could study them a bit? How to spell it, how the grammar works, pronunciation? I'm guessing there's nothing published in paper form at the moment, but is there a possibility that there might be?

Hi again, I'm currently looking for more translations from Madame Kali's repertory. In episode eight she uses a chant on Sir Malcolm's doll to take control over him . Well, I dont know if she is taking control of him or simply is clearing out the way for Lucifer to take him. Anyway, what is the meaning of those lines?

Hi David! Big huge fan of yours here with a question relating specifically to Dothraki - you obviously had a small vocabulary to start with from the books; was it harder going into the creation process with words that already existed, or did it make your job easier? Also, have you created languages for written material as well as visual and how does the experience differ? Thanks oodles!
