Hey! I just stumbled across Defiance on Netflix and have been binge watching it for a few days. The languages on that show are incredible, and I was just wondering if there was anywhere one could study them a bit? How to spell it, how the grammar works, pronunciation? I'm guessing there's nothing published in paper form at the moment, but is there a possibility that there might be?

The best place to go is my Tumblr account, at the moment. Search through my posts tagged "Castithan" or "Irathient" or "Indojisnen" or "Kinuk'aaz", and you'll be able to find all the various posts I've done on the grammar and phonology of those languages. I do have plans to eventually do more with the languages (put them online, etc.), but at the moment I swamped. I absolutely WILL return to them, though. It warms my heart to meet people who are still interested in Defiance. :)

First, congratulations on both your forthcoming book, The Art of Language Invention, and on landing Penny Dreadful (perhaps the best show on TV)! So the Verbis Diablo. It does sound quite a bit like Latin (as remarked upon in "Fresh Hell" ). Did you begin with Latin or create Verbis Diablo from the ground up as your other languages? (Second question coming)

Second question on Penny Dreadful and the Verbis Diablo: Also regarding "Fresh Hell": John Dee was mentioned, along with his Angelic language. There are books in existence that claim to be written in this script. Did you look at any of these? Even for amusement value? Thanks very much, Jen Tait
