I watched the movies first and refused to read past the first book because of how much I loved John Ambrose in the movies. I finally ended up reading this in hopes that book John wouldn't be as good as movie John Ambrose, book Peter wouldn't be as bad as movie Peter, and that the disparity between them wouldn't be as glaringly obvious (and maybe hoping that Peter would be better than John so I wouldn't be dissapointed when she inevitably picked him).

Given the ending, I'd like to think that in the future Lara Jean and John Ambrose do end up together. She's making a silly decision based off the fact she's a teenager. She's 16. She hasn't even hit 19 - an age where she's going to make the worst decisions of her life. But at the end, she does seem to have grown some by accepting the way people enter and exit your life, and realizing that her and Peter may not be forever. That speech she gives Peter plus John's final words about their time gives me hope it'll finally be their time when they're both older and more mature. (less)
