What was the inspiration for your characters in "Me Before You"? Do you have someone close to you in a wheelchair?

Hi Sharon. I did, yes, although they are both deceased now. They weren't the inspiration for the characters, but they were for the situation, and the way they were looked upon by other people. Re; the characters, Will and Lou actually popped into my head in a scene (actually the wedding dance scene) and I felt I knew who they were immediately. (this doesn't often happen)

This is not a question but an observation. Not sure if anyone's mentioned or noticed this but I though Louisa Clark's name was derived from "Clark Kent & Lois Lane" from Superman. Christopher Reeve, the actor who played the classic Superman, became a quadriplegic after an equestrian competition injury. When I was reading the book, I imagined the young and handsome Christopher Reeve as Will Traynor.
