Lina from Between Shades of Gray is Joana's cousin. She's briefly referenced in the book and the stories happen at the same time in different parts of Europe.

I read salt to the sea in class, and have decided to look at ruta sepetys other works. When I saw lina VILKAS and other things I knew that there had to be some relation between them. Haven't read between shades of gray but know that if it's anything like salt to the sea I'm gonna love it!!!!!
