Goodreads asked Elizabeth Butts:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Elizabeth Butts Oh man, I'm so new at this, is it right for me to give advice? Or is that really pretentious? I guess I would say, for book one, write what you know. Old advice, right? I don't mean, write your life story. I think that's what people imagine is meant by 'write what you know'. I mean, when there is a story line, think of how you personally would react, and write that. Make it honest. Make your first book match your personality. It makes it easier to write. Once you have one under your belt, branch out :)
