I fortunately haven't had it yet! But I imagine I will at some point. When that happens, I will get up and walk away for a bit, not try to force it. If it is forced, it will come across as forced.

Being able to say that I'm a writer!

Oh man, I'm so new at this, is it right for me to give advice? Or is that really pretentious? I guess I would say, for book one, write what you know. Old advice, right? I don't mean, write your life story. I think that's what people imagine is meant by 'write what you know'. I mean, when there is a story line, think of how you personally would react, and write that. Make it honest. Make your first book match your personality. It makes it easier to write. Once you have one under your belt, branch out :)

I'm working on a book that is tentatively titled 'Secondhand Purses'. It is a spin off of Singleish, in that it focuses on one of the crazy friends that Ashley (main character in Singleish) has. Alex is probably the more 'out there' character, she's a bit in your face, but with a heart of gold. If you are in her circle, you are in forever. Unless you screw up...then, best of luck! This story jumps time. So it starts in 2005 when she's in high school, then in 2015. It shows what happened in her life to make her who she is.

Life inspires me. Life in general is weird, and crazy, and fun, and lovely, and scary and ugly. Just watching people is enough to inspire so many books. So. Freaking. Many.

I can't say there was one big "AH HA" moment that lead to Singleish. I think it was more, this idea popped into my head, I wrote it...then I just kept writing. If it made me laugh, it went in. The annoying part was when ideas popped in as I was trying to sleep! There was more than one night where I tiptoed downstairs at 1:30am to start writing!
