Sarah asked Roseanna M. White:

How much research do normally have to do for a book?

Roseanna M. White I usually give myself a crash-course in whatever I need over the course of a week--internet research, looking up what books I'll need. That's generally enough to get me stared, and then I continue reading those books I found while I'm writing my novel. Some subjects require I finish reading said books first, in which case it can take me a couple weeks to have enough research under my belt to start writing, or even plotting fully.
