Hi Dominic! This is a great question. Actually if I'm going to be completely honest and say I think that Roya is an alter ego of mine. I didn't realize that until people who knew me read the books and said they heard my voice in her's. Now many people don't like Roya because she's kind of bitchy. I'm not a whiner...that I know of. And where I think I really found inspiration for Roya was watching strong, courageous teen girls. I teach college freshman and I'm always impressed by how mature and brave the current generation of girls are. I don't remember being that way at that age. So to answer your question, I think Roya is a conglomeration of me and many others.
