Sharon Mccall asked Sherrilyn Kenyon:

I am currently reading Styxx's book and I think it is great to show the contrast between him and Acheron as well as how alike they were in their paths growing up.I think I love these books because I have a fascination for the mythological and its great learning about some of the gods and goddesses I am less familiar with. How did the Dark Hunter series come to be based around the different myths of so many cultures?

Sherrilyn Kenyon It's my way of showing my father why I took all the classes I did in college :) and that my education isn't as useless as he was convinced it would be. I will never forget the look on his fact the day he saw my Sumerian Lexicon text book. "Dear Lord, child! Why are you wasting good money on that? Why don't you learn to repeat after me, 'y'all want fries with that cheeseburger?'"

Seriously though, I grew up in a very mixed cultural environment and was exposed to a lot of different theologies early in life. As a result, I was innately curious and started researching ancient beliefs and cultures early in my childhood. When I started writing, I wanted to share my love of those worlds and ancient societies with my readers and breathe fresh life into them. I try to honor them as the ancient writers did and to do justice to their time and place as best I can.
