Goodreads asked Kimberly Ranee Hicks:

How do you get inspired to write?

Kimberly Ranee Hicks I'm one of those writers where inspiration finds me. I'm not one that seeks out a story--stories seek me out. Usually, a character will reveal himself to me in my dreams and some of them become so bothersome to the point I have to write them out in order for them to leave me be. Once I write them out, they disappear never to return. This is my strange way of writing and always has been. My soul has to become full and when it does, the only way for me to get relief is to release them onto the world. Once I do that, I am at total peace. May be strange to some, but that's how my gift works. I've been like that all my life. I've learned to accept it.
