Ucif
Ucif asked Catherine Ryan Hyde:

at what time people want to convert your book to movie and why the final work doesn't fit to our lovely imagination ?

Catherine Ryan Hyde First of all, I'm very sorry to be s late in responding. Turns out Goodreads notifications were going into my spam folder and I didn't know it.

It was 1998, I believe, when we first got movie interest in Pay It Forward. Very hard to answer your second question. I had no hand in the movie. I think most movies vary greatly from the book and many miss the mark. My personal opinion is because it's a "too many cooks in the kitchen" situation. A book is one person's creative vision, but a movie is more like a compromise.
