i am a but confuse about its series.. i have all 7 books of the witcher series but i do not know which one is 1st book and which one is 2nd, and from where to start reading all.. I was completely confused for 33% of Blood Of Elves because I took the advice here. I think it would have clearly helped to read the prequels first. It was so frustrating to know, that I should "know" what's going on but had no basis for knowing.

Blood of Elves (book one of the consecutive series - read)
Time of Contempt (book two - read)
Baptism of Fire (book three - read)
The Tower of the Swallow (book four - reading)
The Lady of the Lake (book five - conclusion of consecutive series - to read)
The Last Wish (prequel to consecutive series - to read)
Sword of Destiny (story collection - to read)
Season of Storms (story collection - to read)

The whole plotline and sequence of books/stories is a mess. Some early books were written later to tell the stories that are referred to in later books. But all in all it was the decision of the author to create a story without exact dates and learning the chronology was made unnecessarily hard for the readers. The way the books of the final saga were presented didn't help either. I would have expected a title like "The Witcher Saga Book I: Blood of Elves".
