Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Ian Thompson It was a long process based on decisions and brainstorming rather than a piece of sudden inspiration. I began by deciding I wanted to write a fantasy saga, then proceeded to the idea of wanting an epic war. I spent weeks devising possible races, cultures, locations and characters, and after that proceeded to test chapters.
Once everything was in place, I could really get cracking on the book itself.
