Don't give up! It's tough getting that first book published and there's a lot of good competition out there. Join a GOOD writer group and join a professional writing organization (I belong to MWA and ITW). Attend writing conferences, although some can be expensive there are some very good affordable ones (The New England CrimeBake is very good).
