How do you get inspired to write?

Elizabeth George Sorry. I thought I'd answered this already. I take my inspiration from several sources: newspaper articles, articles in UK tabloids, real crimes that I want to fictionalize and examine from a different angle, places in the UK that I want to write about, previous novels I've written that require a story within them to be finished, British institutions like Cambridge University, themes that I wish to explore.

I have probably a silly question about Something to Hide but it's driving me a little crazy. At the very beginning Deborah is told they want her to work on a project but...the project is never specifically spelled out. Is it?? I've looked and looked. The next thing is she's at Orchid House to take portraits. What did I miss?

Do you believe this is still "the Lynley series" or do you agree that other characters have come to mean at least as much as he has, or maybe even that this is more of an ensemble job and that's why it works as splendidly as it does so much of the time?
