Goodreads asked LK Hunsaker:

How do you deal with writer’s block?

LK Hunsaker I consider writer's block as being stuck on a certain story. When that happens, and when extra story research doesn't unblock it, I step away from it for a few days and let it simmer in my mind while I either work on a different story and/or do something more physical. If you're an obsessive writer, chances are good that you have house or yard work that needs to be done or family/friends who would appreciate a little attention. Do those things as the story simmers and the answer as to why you're stuck will likely pop right up at you. I've often had it click back in while doing dishes or pulling weeds.

As far as being "unable" to write at all, I haven't experienced that. I have "don't wanna" days and I let myself not write on those days. I think too much forcing can be hazardous. I also think not forcing just a bit when needed is hazardous. It's a line each writer has to determine for herself. If it matters enough to you, you find a way to keep going. If you usually type your stories, switch to paper and pencil for a while. If you usually write long rambling fiction, try a short story, even a 100 word story. Change things up. You can always go back to your routine when you're ready.
