Goodreads asked Henry McLaughlin:

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Henry McLaughlin The idea for my most recent book which is a speculative novel came from my weekly critique group, the Society of Solitary Scribes. Two of the members write speculative and challenged me to try it. I had just finished a project so I was ready to try something new.
It took a little of a year to compete what turned out to be two books in a series. I have notes to do a third book and ideas for a companion book.
I really enjoyed creating a story world outside of anything I had ever done with animals, food, countries, religions, magic, shape-shifters, healers, etc.
It was also the first project I wrote organically without an outline. And it's the first time I've written a first person point of view.
A great experience and I'm looking forward to doing it again.
