The best, best thing about writing is having a creative outlet. I've always been a creative person but have never once had a creative job. I have a scientific background and spent the most of my work days day dreaming (hence why I was never good at my job!) I love living in my imagination and creating characters.
I also love the freedom writing gives me. For example, on a lovely, sunny, Yorkshire day like today I can take my laptop in to my garden and type away while the sound of lawn mowers and tweeting birds fade in to the background. I love, love, love it! It's a job I would recommend.
