Goodreads asked Lisa Jackson:

How do you deal with writer’s block?

Lisa Jackson Writer's block for me is caused by two things, the first being a lot of family or personal stress that pulls me away from my story. The second occurs often and it's really not a block, but an issue in the book. If I can't seem to progress in the story, it's probably not the scene I'm working on, but something that happened chapters before that I have to change. Sometimes it's a matter of point of view--I need to be in another characters viewpoint in order to make the scene/story line work but more often than not, it's an issue earlier in the book that I have to go back and rewrite, which isn't just a scene of course as it affects the story line and characters up to the point where the block started.
