Teresa
Teresa asked Mira Jacob:

I loved the "Sleepwalker's Guide to Dancing" but found myself wondering why the father, Thomas, has an American first name while his wife, brother and children have Indian names. Was this a conscious decision and is the significance related to his decision to leave India?

Mira Jacob Hi Teresa! Great question. Actually, there are certain "American" names which were used in India long before they were here--Thomas being one of them. Syrian Christians, like the Eapens, trace their roots back to the first century AD in India, when St. Thomas brought this branch of Christianity to India. Funny, right?
