The books are great because Sookie is an awesome MC, but I love the show because you get to see more of everyone else. Especially Lafayette, who is my favorite on the show but hardly in the first book. Since the show is loosely based on the book series, and completely veers from it after season 4, its almost a whole different story.(less)
